Organizing your child's artwork
Do you have your child's artwork displayed on your refrigerator like this?
I don't know about you but my children are so proud of each and every piece of art they bring home from school (and so am I). But it's hard to fit each and every piece of paper on your refrigerator, not to mention that it is not the most appealing look for your kitchen. So in our house we hang our children's art on this simple display:
This makes it easy and simple to rotate out artwork and papers as they come in and adds variation to what is on the wall. We have this hanging in our playroom upstairs and my girls think they are rock stars for having their own creations hanging up on the wall. Plus it was super easy and cheap to install. I simply put 4 nails in the wall and tied fishing string to each end. Simple as that.
Then I hang each piece of paper with an old fashioned clothes pin. Simple, cheap and easy!

A baby no more......time for a big girl room!
My niece turns 3 next week and for her birthday present I decided I wanted to makeover her "baby room" to a "big girl room". She went with her Mommy out of town for a week to pick up her Daddy from his year long deployment so while they were gone I went to work! This was what it looked like before:

The hard part was that they live in a rental house so painting the walls were out of the question. My sister wanted to pick out the bedding and I went from there. Here is the final results:

And here was her reaction (along with her cousins)

Junk drawer decluttered
Do you have a junk drawer? Does it look like this?

I found an easy way to get all of those pesky pens in one place without filling up a drawer. And of course it has to look good too. So I turned to the latest "hot" thing......a mason jar.
This one is wider and shorter than the typical mason jar so it fits a few more in there. It works perfectly for storing all of these pens. And I have a "command center" in my kitchen with a basket for mail, papers, bills and other things that tend to keep my kitchen counters cluttered. So this is the perfect spot to house my jar of pens!

2 day to an offer
The latest house I staged (you can see it here) was listed on Monday and had an ABOVE list price offer on Wednesday! By the end of the week they had 3 offers. Such a blessing for everyone involved, especially since the homeowners had a baby 1 week from the listing date! So thankful for another great success story!

Just a little tweaking
I was so happy to get to work with my friend Michelle Rowe, with Better Homes and Garden-Gary Greene, again. She had a new listing and I was able to work with her clients to get their house ready to list. I have to tell you though, these clients had already done a lot of prep work to their house so my job was pretty easy! I met with them and did a walk through at their house. I snapped away pictures so that I would have a clear image of what their house looked like when I went to write up my report. This helps me to remember every detail of their house and maybe catch something in a picture that I didn't notice in person. I didn't have a whole lot  to give them because they had already worked so hard in getting their house in tip top shape, but with a few suggestions we had their house going from this:

And the kitchen went from this:

After a little depersonalization the Master Bedroom went from this:

And a little sprucing up and photography tricks took the front from this:

If you'd like to see the full listing, or if you're interested in this property you can see all of the information and pictures here.

3 Days to an Offer
This house had an offer 3 days after it was listed. AND, it had 3 offers (nearly all full price) within the first week of being listed. Coincidence or a result of being staged properly??? I'll let you take a guess by looking at the pictures:

This is what the dining room looked like when I got there:

And this is what it looked like on the listing website:

This is the breakfast room when I got there:

It looks very nice, but a little simplifying and a new picture transformed it into this:

Here are a few more pictures from the listing:

So does staging really make a difference?
